Talking need a bit of help reading OHMs... for the VATS system key

Ok so I was replacing my steering column, and I took out the ignition tumbler. I broke off the white wires at the base of the tumbler. These are for the microchip thingy (VATS system) to start the car. I read on another post how to bypass the system by finding out what VATS number my key was set to. I took it to a locksmith, he said it was number 15. (11.80 OHMS resistance) Here is where I'm getting a bit lost. The instructions tell me to go to the closest number, which would be 12.00 OHMS. I'm supposed to get resistors to match from Radio Shack. Here comes the confusion. Is that "12" Ohms, or "12,000" Ohms? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I really don't want to take it in the ass with the $300.00 dealer fix.)

Sorry guys i figured it all out. My bad.......Thank you to other threads!

pellet 15 is 11,800 ohms so you want to get as close to that as possible which means you will probably have to put several end to end (series) to get the 11,800. Do you have an ohm meter? If so you may want to verify it to make sure it's the correct pellet....might save you some headache. Lately we've had a lot of people have problems getting this fix figured out and it's such a simple fix that if you take your time and do things the right way I don't understand how you can't get it right.

i think you can get resistors in 10k and 2k or even 1.5k then a .3k(300) try to get as close to 11.8k as possible i think there is like a range of 20ohm above or below i cant remember the % yield on it but either way its best to be as close as possible. ive done 3 personally.

depends on the tolerance band of the resistor..... gold is 5% and silver is 10%
