mysterious hose
This morning I walk up to my car and see a black hose about half an inch thick hanging under my car roughly in the location of the cats. It looked like it had been cut. No fluids leaking and ses light. Take it to a mechanic he takes a looks at it says its something to do with the vacuum system and says its not needed and yanked it out. He said he suspected the engine had been changed or something but I doubt that. Should I be worried about anthing

Got pics? Was it connected to anything or just wedge in there?

Was it on the driver's side? Could be the outer sheathing from the line that connects the clutch master and slave. If they were to have cut the end off the line and just yanked it up the sheathing would have stayed wedged under the heat shield. I'm just guessing but that's the only rubber line I can think of that runs down by the cats.

No pics but it went up and above the transmission then forward. It was a rubber hose about 2 feet long. I think he might have said something about the VAT system but I don't know anything about that

Maybe it was the auto transmission vent hose?

^^ I was thinking the same thing. From the factory, it is clipped to the front of the torque arm. If anything has been changed it is likely that it was re-routed and may have simply come undone.

I'm in the middle of an axle swap on my car, so here's a pic of the transmission vent hose hanging down. Again, this would normally be clipped to the top of the torque arm.
