    muffler knock

i put a flow master cat back on my stock z28. although a tight fit, it work and sounded great. I just had pacesetter headers and y pipe put on this weekend and with heavy gas peddle the muffler bangs rapidly against the heat sheild. Is there a good way to secure this better or do i switch to a smaller muffler. any help?

did you get the 80 series cross flow? are you sure its the muffler and not the y pipe? when i switched to a 3" Y it started banging under acceleration. i just added a bump stop under the driver side and havent had a problem with it.

i dont know what series muffler. it was a ls1 kit from summit. i will try the bump stop. i just assumed it was the muffler because it is extremly close if not touching the heat sheild.

If it ends up not being the y-pipe and it's ur muffler hitten the heat shield, add some washers to both hangers were they bolt on to the body and that will lower ur muffler away from the heat shield and should stop it from hittin it, also check where the exhaust goes over ur rear end and make sure everything has enough clearance on all sides
