motor swap to ls1
Hi I have a 1991 Z28 with the 5.7 TPI. I've seen a ton of LS1's on eBay complete w/ auto tranny. If I were to buy this with all accessories would it be a direct swap or a royal PITA?

Not going to be a bolt in swap. LT1 would be, and those are cheaper than LS1 engines. Last one I saw involved making new motor mounts, cutting the saddle in the front subframe and boxing it in for clearance, etc.
On the other hand, being all aluminum, you'll reduce the front weight by about 150 lbs or more over an iron block 350. That and the 100 extra hp add up to one fast 3rd gen, even for a stocker.Hammer - hammertime.us

I'm doing the conversion to my 87 and it's a pain but not too bad if your car can be parked for a while. It's also expensive, I'm over a $1,000.00 allready and I still don't have the motor or tranny
