    motor mount decision

Hey guys, i need to get some new motor mounts. I found out yesterday that the prothane motor mounts have alot of vibration throughout the cabin, that you can really feel it. What would be a close to stock feel? Or, where could i find stock motor mounts. i dont want to have to deal with alot of vibrations

You can stock mounts from any auto parts store or from the dealer.

    Daily Driver, or part-time cruiser?
    Stock exhaust, or LT's?
If the answers to either question are the first one, then simply get new stock mounts from any auto-parts store, or your dealer.
If the answer is the second part to either question, then order the Prothane mounts. Especially if someday you may wanna do LT's.

I did the Prothane, with cam/Lt's/Stall, ..., on a weekend cruiser, ..., & I don't necessarily notice anything irritating. But that may be because I swapped it all at once & went from mild to thumpa-thumpa all at once.
I think it may be related to yer driving sequence too. If all ya do is stop/go traffic across town, it may seem like too much vibration. If yer cruisin' down the long road at speed most of the time, ..., well mine's pretty smooth then.

i have the spohn poly motor mounts. not really any excessive vibrations, the car does "jump around" on startup though. while your at it you should put a new trans mount in too.

the only mods to the car ive done are BBK Longtube headers, high flow cats, slp catback, poly motor and trans mount.

    these motor mounts http://www.lmperformance.com/7651/1.html
    and this trans mount http://www.lmperformance.com/3113/1.html

there is a really good write up on ls1tech for motor/trans mount install.

I drive 110 miles a day between 50 and 85 mph and the poly black mounts work just fine for me.. No vibration that I can tell and Im picky on that shit. Get the poly ones, you will be glad you did.

    +1

I've got the prothane mounts with Kooks LT's. I love them and feel no vibration. Friends without them have complained about the Y slamming into the floorboard, I've never experienced it. I also have an Energy Suspension tranny mount.

FWIW, Energy suspension created their prototypes off mine and a friends cars and they say that theirs is softer than Prothane's but stiffer than stock.

I guess that might be your alternative, but I'd vote for prothane.

I was told by ES that the "Energy Suspension" mounts were softer than Prothane's, however, for the performance aspect I chose prothane. I doubt you'd notice the difference anyway.

Prothane's also been "in the game" longer so I'd choose them.

ok so i should choose the prothane motormounts by energy suspension, that they'll be a little stiffer than stock but softer than poly...right?

No lol, you got it all wrong...

"Prothane" and "Energy Suspension" are the brand names of Poly motor mount manufacturers.
