i was wondering. i know alot of people say that using a cutout on the ls1 makes more power because of less restrictive flow, but is it possible that you can actually make more power with a good exhaust and not a cutout, reason being that you do have to have a certain amount of back pressure, right? it feels like on my car it pulls harder with the cutout close. anyone know anything about this?

I'm no authority, but I have read that the ls1 actually likes a little back pressure.

Cut out right before the axle will=more power. Maybe a little less torque down low but top end will more than make up for it.

Cutout before the axel will be the best option for maximum power. You will loose a little low end torque that is noticable but your motor will scream throught the upper rpm range. I gained 18 rwhp with my cutout open compared to closed with a flowmaster.

I know flowmaster sucks but that is what the car came with and that is when I had it dyno'ed. I now run kooks lt with corsa catback. Really no need for a cutout anymore.
