    Talking Momma Needs Help!!!

My husband's birthday is coming up, and due to our not having cleaned out the garage - his car has sadly been banished to the unprotected driveway. Therefore, it will be hibernating through the winter in the open air and elements.

I do feel his pain, and would like to get him one hum dinger of a cover - soft, warm, cozy and non-scratchy on the inside, and stainless steel on the outside

Can you fellas give me some feedback on where to start and who has the best cover for long term storage outside? (and covers the wheels if there is such a thing?)

He (we've), but really he, has a 99 camaro (and it sure is pretty) and I'd like to help him keep it that way.

So, can ya help me? And honey, if you by chance see this and realize this is me - tell me what you want, but act REALLY surprised and impressed when you get it. *kisses*

Ok, as I've been researching this... I keep coming back to the Weathershield HD Series by Covercraft.

I just want to make sure I'm not missing some uber-secret even better cover only known to people "in the know" (which I'm obviously not)

Thanks fellas - any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

(does this help to make this thread not worthless?)

To the question regarding cleaning out the garage - nope, sadly not an option - believe me we'd both like to have this happen... using it for storage as we pack boxes to move etcetcetc.

Spaz - I did click your link, and I have to be honest with you.. I think those covers look kinda gay I know my hubby would think so (especially since this is an outside storage issue). Having it for a car you store inside and is more of a showcase item... would be ok.

my dad has one for his lingenfelter vette... it's an outdoor one... weather proof etc... it has a fan that keeps it inflated and the fan is filtered so taht no dust gets inside... it is not clear like the ones on that site... you do have to keep it plugged in though... they work great!!!

I've read good things about the california car cover and the covercraft. What budget are you looking at for a cover?

I had a California car cover and it was very good in quality. I would definitely buy another one. They are form fitted to your make and model and you can get them embroidered also.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was a very bad idea to use a car cover unless the vehicle is indoors.....I've always heard that using a car cover outside is very bad to do...

not bad... it depends on the cover and if it is secured properly...

correct. You want something fitted for the car that will be snug. A universal could blow around rubbing on your paint.

if you have the room that's probably not a bad idea. You can buy that "garage in a box" deal just about for the price of a cover. You can get floors for them too.

I don't have a budget, I just want something good. I think at this point, and from what I've researched - the customs aren't returnable - so I'm going to make him a "gift certificate" and let him do with it what he will.

I might even push him hard to clean the garage - maybe if I tell him he can redo his seats, and get a satin slip... he'll clean it!!

    I am not beyond bribing

Thanks for all your help felllas, I do appreciate it!

I would get one of those pop up car ports or heck I built a mini garage for my car, it's 18ft by 8ft. Cost me about $120 in lumber, screws, and then I used 2 industrial tarps attached to the roof to help it last and its surviving its second Alaska winter with no problems.
