melted injectors
So I was cleaning my engine bay when I saw that my injectors were melted. We had a flood recently and some whater may have gotten in my engine, could water have pooled around the intake and melted the injector while the engine was running? The engine seems to be running fine, and it doesn't seem to be over heating. It doesn't even get to the 210 degrees mark when driving for a while. How could this happen? Could the intake cause this? My mods are in my signature. I really need to figure out what caused this, I don't want to end up buying injectors and they melt again. Here is the best picture I could get:

I don't think just water would cause your injectors to melt like that. Do you use any chemicals to clean your engine?
Edit: Are you absolutely certain that is melted rubber and not just dirt buildup?

I do use chemicals but always with a rag and never on the injectors. It appears to be melted rubber, as it seems to be attached to the injectors. I will check and see if I am throwing any codes. Should I replace them first? I just don't want replace them and they melt again. I know I need to I just want to figure out what did it first. The intake after 15 minutes or so doesn't seem to be that hot, so I am thinking that isn't the cause. Any suggestions would be great.

Can you post a better pic? Hard to see what is going on there.

Did you do the intake swap your self? If so, did you replace the o-rings for the injectors? If not then what you may be seeing are little bits and pieces from the o-rings falling apart. I can’t really tell from the pic though.

Here's a hopefully better picture:
I didn't do the intake myself this time. After looking at it again it looks like gasket maker, does anyone else agree? Anyone seen that before?

Looks like grease that somebody put on the o rings to make the injectors pop in easier, and the excess squeezed out, over time its gotten dirty and turned black and now looks like it does

I was going to say that it appears to be black RTV -- looks like you guys got it figured out. Strange that they would RTV injectors like that...

Looks like the same stuff they used on the intake gaskets.

Injector bodies are made of high carbonized chemical resistant plastic, the likelyhood of them melting from anything other than an engine bay fire is very slim..
Even battery acid won't melt them..

If it's RTV, then that was put on to keep water out and keep the engine from going "BOOM" in a rain storm.
