    MAF messing up??

So the last month or so I've been having this problem where whenever I'm driving under light-mid acceleration as soon as my car hits 2k RPM it like.. slows down.

Best way I can describe it is that it's like when you hit the rev limiter, and the car slows itself down almost like you're hitting the brakes.

That's what it does almost every time I get to 1800 - 2k RPM and it does it until like 2500 RPM sometimes more or less.. never does it at WOT though.

Also, whenever I'm accelerating fairly hard, about mid throttle, and let off the gas, the car will jerk really bad.

When I was telling my friend about this, and he said it MIGHT be the MAF.. He said to unplug it, drive it around the block, and see if it still does it.

So I decided to try it this morning, I unplugged it, and drove around the block and went through every shift like I normally would.. And the car drove flawlessly! I could NOT get it to stutter/jerk/or stop like it was doing before..

So... my question is, do you guys think I need a new MAF?

I know all the "the stock MAF is good up to 500 HP" and all that, but if I have to change it, should I just get the bigger one?

yeah just stay away from grannantelli, the best thing is to just get a stock zo6 maf, if possible, try cleaning your with cleaner first, k&n filter oil can contaminate the hot wire pretty easily distorting the signal to the pcm, good luck, this is a pretty common problem often resulting in dirty wires. but most of the time the pcm will set a code, but not always

Ok I was HOPING that was it, and not something else.. It should be a pretty easy fix if I just have to change out the MAF.. except I have NO IDEA how I'm going to get it out of my SLP lid.. had to bang it in for like 45 mins, gonna be damn near impossible to get it out...

But as far as cleaning it, what does that involve? I'm going to try to avoid taking it out if I can cuz that is gonna be extremely difficult.

get a hairdryer and heat it up and soften the plastic...get is REALLY good and hot, it wont melt..after that you may need to get a flathead up under it and pry it a little bit..it will come out with a little work...ohh btw...heres a link to some CHEAP MAF's

yeah all you do is remove your intake and lid, and spray the little wires, you will know what i mean, just concentrate the spray on them, carb cleaner or brake cleaner or if you wanna get fancy the maf cleaner but its all the same shit

Just get the CRC MAF Cleaner at NAPA or AutoZone......if that doesnt work then a new MAF from NAPA isnt a big deal nor expensive....

Ive read that carb cleaner or brake cleaner will screw the electronics but dont know for sure .I would stick with the proper spray.
