MAF Change???
As you probably have read im trying to make my almost 150xxx daily driver back to extreme roadworthyness(if thats a word or not)
anyway im changing almost all the small sensors and wondered since my maf screen is raped in small spots due to debris(not gonna descreen, ky roads are harsh) and its just plain beat up looking..
should i get a new stocker???
Im for it because it cant hurt
what do you guys think?

well i am curious to first know why you screen is so screwed up? It is possible for debris to hit it, but if you filter is in good shape and sealed properly. Your screen shouldnt be raped as you say. Before you go out and drop the money for a new stock MAF, I would try to find out why so much debris is gettin into and hitting that screen.............you also may want to try and find a used one on this forum from someone as I am sure a new stock MAF costs an arm and a leg from the factory.

Its sealed properly.
when i first got my car it was like that.. i cleaned everything well and made sure it was sealed but the previous owner just drove it.. didnt do much under the hood.
I clean all my stuff out every weekend..
Its runs perfect but i wonder if changing it now would help later... do some preventative work... i can get a discount through GM.. so stock isnt that big of a worry...

if you do that mail me your stock one. I personally think it'd be a waste of money. My dad used to always say "don't fix it if it ain't broke."

The original one isnt aesthetically pleasing... its kinda beat up...

Wouldnt even worry about it, just ensure your system is sealed to prevent more damage.

I'm just messing with ya, don't change out that maf and don't descreen it. Do you have a pic of it so we know how butchered up it is? You don't want it messing with airflow by any means. If the honeycomb is crushed and things like that you might think about replacing it but I would personally probably try to straighten out the honeycomb first. They ain't cheap.

From what I read everywhere descreening the maf is the wrong way to go... I took aluminum polish and took mine apart careful and shined and smoothed out all the rough surfaces.. i maybe gained .2 hp.. if that...
TB is next
