LT1 Intake air controller valve question

Does anyone know of a way of checking the iac valve without a scanner? iac sensor is good. with it removed I know your not supposed to but if you push or pull on it should it move? Car is idling high untill i cover the iac port then its fine. Also if i remove it and reinstall it does that require a reset? And i keep reading about adjusting the lenght how do you do that? And with it out of the tb if i turn on the power should it move?

    Thanks in advance.

I have never heard nor read anything about adjusting an IAC valve. Is it covered in black soot? If so, then clean it off, inspect the O-ring that fits between the IAC and the port in the throttlebody and reinstall. If you don't push on the pintle, you shouldn't need to drive the car to relearn the IAC. Almost sounds like you have some carbon build-up on the IAC port. Give a holler if you need anything else.
