lsx vs ls1-7

Pewter- 2000 Trans Am
I think the LSX is a steel block, the best thing about this engine block is that its fully customisable! the LS is the Series, and The X could = 1,2,6,7 depending on what route you take.

lsx can be any number of ls series. Both the ls1 and ls7 are aluminum block and heads. The ls1 was the first ls series in the corvette in 1997, the ls7 is the z06 corvette starting2005. Ls-1 about 300rwhp ls-7 450 give or take to the wheels.
The link you provided isn't complete could you give another?

Victory Red- 2007 Pontiac G5
ls1 = 5.7 (Trans ams, Camaros, and 04 gto)
ls7 = 7.0 (vette z06)
lsx = just a block? or could mean the whole family of Ls's?

I have am old 74, 914 full fiberglass widebody roadster that I would love to V8 some day......after I cut the trees down that have grownup around it
I'd look for a wrecked 99+ F-body to use for a donor......comes with an ls1,tranny, better computer and all the little parts to swap everything over.
with keep us posted!

stock they are ugly little suckers, but light as hell with the perfect balance....a good set of tires and they handle like a dream. I'll bet your unclels car is a beast. I had a modded 2.0 bus motor bored .040 over, with a nice cam and 13:1 compression in mine and it would scream

so how to get 600whp with an ls1 from craigslist?
-

you'd be looking at around 700 flywheel hp to get 600 rwhp which would cost a lot of money to that high hp, and have it hold together.
most likely it woulnt be very fun to drive on the street because of how high you would have to spin it.
that is the beauty of the LS motor, you don't want to look at peak hp (like smaller 4 cylinders), these motors can make 500 hp reliably with a nice flat torque curve starting low in the rpm range and holding all the way to red line

LS1, LS2, LS3, LS7 are all LS(x)s.

the lsx that the original poster refers to is a blank ls block. it can be cast in iron or aluminum. originally was aluminum but they recently released the iron version. they can be molded to any current ls engine size(displacement wise) up to a 454 cu in. it all really depends on what you want to throw in it for parts and what your goals are.
