LS7 in f-body
Has anyone ever put the LS7 in an f-body. How hard would it be to swap it out? I know thats alot of money for the engine but to say I've got an LS7 would be awsome.

ya i was wondering the same thing, i do know that the ls7 is still the small block design just bored and stroked to its max 427 cubic inches . with the reliability of that engine and the power to run 11's i do want to make this swap. it should fit,but i don't know what all has to change to make it happen , will need more reseach.

from ls1tech.com i havent heard any good things about the ls7 minus its power output. from what they say, its almost like a designer item for the people that want to show off for cosmetic reasons. dont ask me why, but one reason i remember was because it cant take too much of a boost.

not sure why you would want to put an LS7 in when you could put a 402, 408, 383 in alot cheaper and probably make the same kinda power. And if you swap in an iron block it can handle a hell of alot more to.

There is a complete install of the LS7 in a 1998 Camaro, and GMPP and GM Engineers built he car along with Thompson Automotive. The Feb. 2007 issue of GM-High Tech has an article called "Red Light Special". They go thru the complete install plus additional mods. There seems to be a special prototype speed density, tune from GM. It uses Kooks headers. It looks like a good setup, but the original price for the LS7 and the markup on the engine will keep some good hot rodders from exsperiencing what GM should have made for our 1998-2002 F-Bobies. It would be nice. 550hp and 28 mpg.

Easy enough fix. If you have the money to own that motor and toss on a turbo set-up, you more than likely can afford the changes required to lower the compression.
11.7:1 can be done on pump gas with the LSx aluminum heads.
LS1 is 10.1:1.
LS6 is 10.5:1.
LS7 is 11:1.
I built my motor to be 11:1.
Not sure about the LS2.

After that 11.2 it is up to the tuner, but it can be done safely.

I believe he is stating that the LS1 with modifications can be made to 440-450 rwhp no problem. Not that everything in the bottom end would still be stock. If you know his current application then you know what he is talking about. His bottom end isnt stock. Before he moved I believe he was around 520 hp at the wheels, I believe he is in a different elevation now that lowers his numbers a bit. Not sure though, cant remember.

Always been here in Colorado.
But I don't even have the LS1 block anymore.
BUT...a stock LS1 bottom end should be fine with 450 RWHP.

Mystic Teal- 99 Trans Am & 01 CBR 929
Lemme rephrase that for ya my friend.. The LS1 bottom end handles 450 rwhp without even a hint of a problem I am over 500 rwhp on the bottle with completely stock bottom end and 109,000 miles. I have drag raced the car so many times its not funny and have been through over 200 lbs of nitrous. On top of that I blew the clutch band off a stage one built transmission on the bottle hit my rev limiter which was set at 6800 rpms and blew my intake off and blew a hole in my MAF sensor. After replacing the MAF sensor and the intake tube the car still rn flawlessly. Any questioning of the LS1s durability should be erased from your mind right now!

I apologize Mr. Luos, I must of been thinking of some one else. Didnt mean to misinform about your car. May have been thinking of someone on LS1tech, I need to leave these stupid computers alone, confusing myself means its time for a break.
