    ls6 intake manifold

i am going to swap the stock intake off of my 99 z to an ls6 intake, just trying to make sure it will be a direct replacement or if i am going to need any parts, also will it run ok without a tune????

The only additional parts you will need is a coolant bypass. When you take off the LS1 manifold you'll see coolant lines running from the back of the block to the front and into the TB, the rear lines get plugged and the front remain.

It's not a tought job, just take your time, look up "how to" there are tons of them.

And everyone will tell you to be carefull to not break the oil pressure sending unit behind. If you can reach behind and unclip the wire to it you'll save urself loads of headaches trying to fish the brake booster hose through there.

one more question, does the ls6 intake really make that big of a difference?

^^^from what I've read here, everyone who has done the swap says it is well worth it.
They said it really wakes up above ~4,000 RPM, but not much change below that. Probably good for ~10 HP.

you can retain the stock ls1 coolant lines, care fully remove some of the ribbing on the under side of the ls6 intake.you can do a thread search for pics, all you need is a sharp chisel or dremel.you don't really need a tune ,but it will make a differance .consider a mail order tune from Frost.

For me it made a huge difference. Basballny2 drove my car, and he said.."wow, this feels like my car, only a little faster" we then realized it was because my ARH y pipe isn't crushed like the Kooks design.

10 Hp is about right I would guestimate.

On my wifes car with a baby cam, the LS6 intake only picked the car up about .12 hundredths and a solid 1 mph on it's best pass compared to the LS1 intakes best pass.

I would suggest doing the LS6 coolant lines too. They only cost about ~$35 or so from Thunder Racing. Worth it in my opinion instead of hacking the bottom of the intake.
