Anything wrong with them? For $200 bucks that's a hell of a deal.Sounds almost to good to be true.

For that price, yes it's a good idea! As long as you're sure they aren't cracked, warped or anything else that would require big$$ to fix

Dude, I bought a set of 243's with <3k on them. Great set of heads but yes...they can be better. I did the work myself and trust me...don't get too crazy with it or you'll scrap out a great set of heads.
I did a bowl blend & polish on the exhaust side, mild polish on the intake side, 30º backcut on all valves, polish on the exhaust valves and lapped all valves.
These heads rock...

I know I'm babbling a bit here BUT:
I'm a machinist by trade. Certain things just make sense to me. When it comes to the heads, smooth flow is very important. You can take a set of 243's and make them flow better in a very short period of time (best performance takes several hours).
Think about water flowing through them. Think smooth flow. Without getting too crazy, what would make water flow most smoothly without turbulance?
Don't just attack it without thought; without a well thought game plan. Additionally, each and every port should flow the same (or very close to it).

I was thinkin bout néw valves, springs , and any other parts needed on the heads. But any idea bout what's a good stuff w/o spendin to much?

Just leave it at porting, you want turbulence to help mix the fuel and air. Depending on the year vette they came off of they are sodium filled valves which are lighter. You decide on a cam yet? Oh and if you haven't bought them yet i'll take them

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
slow down...ls6 243s have awesome valves already...the best way to find this out..is look at the springs ..if these heads are stock and from a ls6..the springs will be yellow.
personally i would get them ported by a professional. also i would wait on springs and etc..just get them ported...pick out a cam. Then match them to the proper springs etc.
dont install the heads without the cam if you plan on doing a cam swap in the future.

That was the condition of the heads when I bought them.
Do I recommend you doing your own work on the heads? "Hell no." I don't know you, therefore I don't know your abilities. (My disclaimer.)
Springs are Dependant on cam selection. The cam I went with exceeded the limitations of the stock 243 springs. (FWIW, I have PSI LS1511ML springs.)
There's a lot of info out there regarding head work. Do your homework prior to molestation.
