Ls1 Starter Replacement
Good Morning Guys,,, Old school here, I am deep into First Gen Camaros . My son has an 00' WS6. Car has about 80K miles on it. Said something about noise coming from starter?
Thinking I will pull it asap but I need to know of any glitches that come with this task.. Is it pretty straightforward removal like the older Camaros?
Second I am only finding rebuilt starters at parts stores. Anyone want to comment on this? Done this before?
Thanks

Ls1 Starter replacement,, findings
Just thought I would get back to this subject and report what I found.
Had suspected starter problems , I got car and pulled starter just to find some slight wear marks on starter snout near drive. This told me for some reason the flywheel was moving closer towards starter. Closer inspection as I rotated engine to examine each convertor to flywheel bolts ( 3),, revealed flywheel was cracked and broke ring gear. Found a second bolt hole with small hairline cracks also. The transmission will have to be pulled to replace the flexplate or flywheel. For about a month now we have been hearing a noise in the engine bay when driving very slow, beyond that , we would never had suspected anything.
Just a little food for thought in case any you guys run across this. Thanks for reading my post. Guess too much of this
