    LS1 MAF end question?????

I just bought a clear MTI lid and a unknown brand of MAF ends they are blue (No screen)

I have been told that the MAF ends with no screen is bad for the engine messing up the air/ fuel ratio making the engine to go bad and messing up the transmission line pressure. Is any of this acurate or true?

My car is stock with 84000 miles with the only mods being the lid and MAF ends. Its a A4 trans

My car ran a 13.5@102 MPH before the lid and maf ends so I think ill go back and see if it made the car any slower.

    thanks, jason

Ported de-screened MAF ends will cause a lean A/F ratio condition. I had ported MAF ends installed a week before a dyno tune, and on my first run my WOT A/F ratio was 15.4:1, with alot of upper RPM pinging. After the dyno tune (stock motor), my WOT A/F ratio was set to 13.2

So do you think the MAF ends I have right now will hurt my performance untill I get a tune?

How much is a dyno tune to get it A/F ratio correct? Or will a hand help programer do? Do you think i would dyno 300 HP at the wheels with the MAF end and MTI clear lid with everything else stock? I did 13.5@102 bone stock.

Speaking of the programers, what do you think is the best one on the market for my 2000 Z28?

    Thanks, Jason

The stock MAF will support up to 500HP without being a resriction. sell the ends to a sucker on ebay and get some money out of it. yea a tune will help but its designed to have the screen in place for the best accurate readings. look at hptuners if you're wanting to tune it yourself, but remember its not something that can be learned over night
