Yes, just buy RTV silicone(black one is fine) and create a donut of RTV around the hole of the knock sensor. This prevents water from getting into them and rusting them out. Just make sure the bead of silicone is high enough that will seal them once the intake is back.

You mean make it look like the one on the left side of the pic below and have about a 1/2" thick bead right or do you mean fill the hole and have the wires hanging out?

no, don't fill the hole. Just run a bead around the hole on the top of the cover.

    Click for full size
See the black circle you have in the picture? Make the bed around that area but NOT inside the hole.

Got my second Knock Sensor today which is funny because the 1st one along with the wire harness and LS6 Cover tray are on hold because of the tray.

is it 12602544? or should i get the kit that comes with the pipe and the rear plugs? i heard is good to put a rear pipe instead of the plugs. What's your opinion on this? Thanks.

GM just plugs the rear cylinder head ports so I don't see it as an issue.

I used the LS6 steam line kit and plugged the rear on my wifes car. A recent LQ4 truck engine I just picked up also comes this way from the factory. No big deal, I wouldn't worry about it.

    12589867 - knock sensor x 2
    12601822 - KS harness
