The question always comes down to money? How much do you have to spend ABOVE the parts you NEED to replace?
I am assuming you have either 799 or 243 heads. Those are going to be good till you reach a certain point.
Do you want to do a cam swap b/c now is a perfect time to do so. That will set you back up to $900.
You already have the ls6 intake. That is good enough to a certain point like the heads.
You can put on an underdrive pulley they are 200 ish with a belt.
How big is the converter in the 700?
If you want to run headers they run you $200 for the cheap ebay headers and they go up from there.
But then you need o2 extensions and that's another $20.
then you need a y pipe. You can go off road y pipe and pay $130+ Or you can get a catted y pipe and pay more $300=???.
Plus you need a tune now and the mail order starts at $150 plus shipping
The list could go on and on. I hope that helps a little

I'm a little confused, do you have a 700r4 transmission or are you sayin you have a 700r4 torque converter in the 4l60e? I'm not sure why would would replace a 4l60e with a 700r4 neither are very strong if anything it would be a 3speed th400

Ok I got it now. For future reference though just say its a stock tranny because the 700r4 and the 4l60e both use the same converter. I assume you have a stock converter also not a high stall one? If not I'd add that to your list a nice stall converter with the ls6 crate and the following bolt on mods, lt headers, ls6 intake, p&p tb, tires, lid, tune, and catback. Those mods should have you in the mid 11's

Well. This is what im thinking...
Im in the same boat being my ls1 is needing to be rebuilt...
Im getting the LS6 longblock...swapping over all of the components
Then adding Kooks 1 7/8 LTs Kooks ORY and SLP LMII
Add motor mounts, Bosch 13111, MSD Plug Wires, ACDelco plugs, Amsoil air filter
An LS6 intake, Ported TB, SLP Lid, Monster Stage 3 (lightweight flywheel chromoly package) and dyno tuned.
I was considering a LQ strocker but everyone convinced me the ls6 would suffice and be a better dd motor
Listen to Redbird and firebirdjones. They are pretty good.

Basham looks like hes got his llist ready to go lol and I gotta say even after the motor confusion that looks like a damn fun car. Being a stick with those mods I could see an 11 sec pass for you the stalled auto would probably be able to do it more easily but being an m6 you would have the fast trap speed... My ls6 motor is in my garage waiting until summer and I'm dropping it in so I'll be right there with ya only difference is I've already got all the bolt on mods done

I have the exhaust in the garage. I have the money to get the block but i figured id wait till i can hit several birds with one stone.
Im also getting a pro 5.0 with lou's short stick and UMI SFC (weld in or bolt on...i cant decide)

Thats good basham, do you have the headers too or just the catback? The subframe connectors atleast from what ive heard rattle a bit if u just have them bolted in, a lot of people get the bolt in ones and then later on they will have them welded in when its convenient. The pro 5.0 is awesome from what i hear but ive also been hearing great things about the mgw just food for thought i dont have a manual so its not really an issue to me haha. You guys are all lucky your motors are coming brand new in a crate i have to assemble part of mine lol as of now its from an 02 z06but its missing the heads and intake haha.

if the long block doesn't have injectors you'll need atleast 28lb injectors... pulleys and all the shit will swap over... get poly motor mounts cause the stock ones will probably crap out in the future (might as well since the engine will be out... with a tune and depending on the dyno you'll put down anywhere from 360 rwhp to 380+ rwhp...

I posted this in 35th's F.I. thread a while back. You can plug in your own numbers and double check the recomended injectorsizing:
Flow Rate = (HP x BSFC) / (# of Injectors x Max Cycle)
BSFC is "Brake Specific Fuel Consumption and on a F.I. application is generally said to be 0.55. For N.A. the standard figure is 0.45. Max duty cycle on injectors should be no more than 80%, or 0.80.
I think you said 600 hp? So your formula would be:
Flow Rate = (600 x 0.55) / (8 x .080)
Flow Rate = 330 / 6.4
Flow Rate = 51.5625 lb/hr injectors
Assuming the horsepower level is accurate, it looks like 60 lb/hr injectors would be more than adequate. Hope this helps.

scratch that 98 SS...but still they are 28Lbs.
but i talked to Charles at GREAD Tuning today in Corydon, IN
he said he would personally rebuild the LS1 with Heads and Cam and forged so that its ready for a procharger.
what are your thought on that?
