    LS engine Help please?

Hello, New to the forum and would like some advice. I just bought a 2004 LQ9 6.0 to replace the LT1 in a 79 Malibu. LQ9 has only 48,000 miles on it but the filter was nearly plugged up with a wax type substance. If you put it on your finger it is still very smooth and spreads with no abrasive in it. I would like to pull the pan and clean it and any oil lines but have never worked on an LS engine and am somewhat intimidated.
Would anyone like to advise me on this small project? Like what to be careful to do or not do, new gasket, reusing bolts that type of thing?

    Thanking you in advance! ronb03

its easy, the gasket is reusable, but i'd replace it anyway. i would reuse the bolts, no biggy, nothing you cant handle i'm sure

GM finally got the gasket deal figured out with the gen3+ engines. I remember the old days with cork gaskets. Not fun. Even the exhaust gaskets on the Gen 3's are good. Like he said though, replace it because it'll be much easier now than later down the road when it's in the car.

    ls1 help

Thanks for the answer to my post. I looked the engine over and think the flywheel must come off but I wanted to see what else needed to be removed.
    Thanks.
