    LS Block Casting Number

While my 1998 Z28 was up on the lift today, I checked out the casting number. I always thought they were always 8 digit numbers, but I read the following:

    115129974

Can this be right or do I need glasses? Is this a 98 LS1?

No, Automotive Accessory & Repair in Pembroke Pines getting FAST 92 manifold, throttle body, and SLP lt headers. The reason I asked about the casting # is because I broke the original LS1 years ago and paid to have it replaced with a cammed up LS6. Now that I know a little more about these engines I think I might have gotten effed and instead got my repaired LS1 back...

Look for 12561168 part number for the LS6 block found behind the Driver side head ( will need a mirror and some good angles to see, easiest when the head is off).

There is no RPO code to signify that you have an LS6 block in your fbody.

So you got screwed? You paid for a LS6 and got a LS1?

Yup. Shop's sold and owner/mechanic died years ago so I guess I won't be taking it up with him. Engine is still strong (354 rhwp before headers and intake manifold/thottle body), so I'll just have to move on...

That blows I hate sh*tbags that run their businesses like that it give mechanics a bad name. I guess I shouldn't speak ill of the dead though.
