    Ls -1 difference''s

Ok , so I purchased a replacement engine for my 99 ws6 , the engine came from a 98 Vette , here's the question , why are the valve covers on the vette engine, bolt on the outside ? and my 99 engine has center bolt valve covers ? what else should I be looking for that's different ? will the reluctor be the same for the crank sensor ? etc ?
    thanks

ok , it didn't come with an accessory drive , so I have to use mine , will the cam sensor and other electronics be the same ? the new replacement engine has only 20,000 miles on it , so I was hoping to use all the sensor stuff to ?

Your accessory's should work fine, but you will need 98 coil brackets for the valve covers.

Yes, the sensors should all be good to go. Good luck and have fun!

does your scan tool show any RPM while cranking? does your scan tool show VTD (vehicle Theft Deterant) status as Active?

To answer your initial question, GM used the perimeter bolt valve covers on all LS1s through 1998. Starting in 99, GM went with the center bolt valve covers on all LS1s.

Ok so cranking RPM means the crank sensor is hooked up and working.
Inactive VTD means the security system is ok...
I'll have to think about this some more.
I'm wondering if any of the 98 LS1 sensors/components aren't compatible with 99. I think they are mostly the same and compatible...I'll do a little research and see what I can come up with.
Did you swap over all the 99 sensors, coils, injectors, etc to your 98 motor??

No I left all or most of the 98 sensors on the engine , just because I thought they would work , and everything was really low miles , and mine had lots of miles , but I did check some of the part numbers on the ones that had them and they were the same ? I have already swapped my old crank sensor into the new engine to try , looks like no spark or fuel if that helps ? thanks

I'm thinking ignition relay is bad.
It powers up the Injectors and ignition coils

Ign relay is in the underhood fuse/relay block. try swapping it with another relay in that area

worth noting is the 98s injector size and cams and pcm's are different than the 99...are you using your stock pcm ? or are you using the 98s ? as the wiring is different in terms of pcm connectors

I used all my original harness and computer , but I used the coil pack harness from the 98 , maybe that's were my problem is ? everything plugs in ok ? what is different about the injectors ? size ? or operation ?now you got me thinking ?
