Low Trac, then INOP
I know this question has been asked many times, but I just want to make sure. If I drive for a while and I brake, my low trac light turns on and I feel the brakes slipping. After the stop, when I go again, the Low Trac light turns off, and the ABS INOP turns on. Someone told me it is the ABS Sensor. And I have a few questions:
1) How much dose the Sensor cost, and where can I get it?
2) Will I able to install it myself? (complete novice)
3) If I cant how much (Estimate) will it cost to get installed.
Thanks for your time.

Don't pay someone to install it. It's very simple. One screw holds it in. Unplug, unloosen, pull out. That simple. Just need to figure out which one is bad. If you know someone with a scanner, you can get the ABS light code read. The scanners at Autozone or PepBoys will NOT work for reading ABS codes.
Here is a pic of what the sensor looks like and where it is located. This is on the right rear wheel. The screw is out, and the wiring is unplugged. It's on the backside of the back plate of the wheel.

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
Could also be some gunk on the sensor or reluctor wheel. Mine would pop on every now and then and I just cleaned everything good and it seems fine.

Something else that will cause that abs/low trac lite is an expensive component called electronic brake control module [ECBM]. My wifes Monte carlo SS just last week was getting the same light and I thought it was also the abs wheel sensor. I carried it to the chevy house and they diagnosed it as that computer. It attaches to the front of the abs pump which is located on the drivers side. You cant miss it. It is held on by 4 torque screws. What I done last friday on hers was to remove the connector and reinstall it and also took a hammer and lightly percussion adjusted the module. Knock on wood one week later and no repeat of the light. Just something for you to try before you go out spending money needlessly.
