What do you mean what should you use? Cant you switch the fans to kick in at certain temps. I would go with 160.

I personally would use the 180 if I were to change t-stats.

I went with a 180 degree stat in ours. Re-set the fans with a Hypertech that came with the car. Worked like a charm for that.

Even with the lower stat, the system can only be so efficient. Our car runs 185 to 194 on average.

Overcool? How? I didnt know 20-30 degrees below could cause a problem. I can see it doing damage in the winter maybe, but didnt know the engine could be damaged if its a few degrees below operating temp.

The guy at auto zone told me that it can overcool if i were to run too low of a thermostat because it cirulates alot more coolent through the block.im probably going to get the 180 to be safe. Thanks!! for the info guys...

My 160 still runs 180 in traffic. Choose the stat bases on the temp you frivi in. My car is great during the summer but when it drops below 38degrees I lose my heater. All depends the temp you drive in. I spend most of the time in 85 to 100 degree weather that's why I chose a 160

WTF? That doesnt make sense. Wouldnt it run more coolant if the engine was hot to prevent it from over heating?? Anyway, run the 180 and be on the safe side.

over cooling is mostly b.s. with lower degree thermostats, unless you live where its really cold all the time...all it it does is open at a lower temperature and let coolant circulate through the engine sooner than the stock thermostat, itll still get to 185-194 degress with the 160 thermo anyway....so if you live in colder weather get the 180, if you live where its hotter get the 160

160 or 180 is a decision based on where you live. FL, TX, Cali 160. MA, Colorado, NH and cold states 180

Isn't the open loop to closed loop factory set around 140 degrees?
