    Low oil light

    I have a 98' T/A.

My Low Oil Light has came on 3 times in the last 4 weeks. I check the dip stick and it is good, Oil Pressure Gage reads ok. I have no puddles in the driveway and nothing is dripping from under neath.

    Any ideas?
Oil pump going bad? God I hope not...

Now I'll have to check that out. Thx.

Leads me to another question. Are there any warning signs when your oil pump goes bad? I would think if you Oil Pressure gauge just drops off I would think this would be one. I just don't want to be driving and have what happen to and have it go boom

The pressure may start to bounce around and get real low at idle. Of course, that can always be a bad sender too.

Agreed. You would also develop a low-end knock after a while.

You're confusing Low oil pressure with Low oil level.
The Low Oil light is for low oil level. Basically you just need a new oil level switch
