Typical to run out of fuel at the top of high gear if you have a weak pump or something else clogging the system. It's the long high gear pull when these issues generally occur as that's when the pump has to work the hardest to keep up. Short bursts through first and second gear (where rpm climbs quickly) in most cases isn't enough to drain the system.

The problem is duplicating it on the street without getting caught
This is what i was thinking. Pressure at idle really wont tell you much. You want to check it with it loaded. The maf & spacer isnt out of the question but i would start with the pressure because that sounds like the most likely culprit to me.

Thanks for all the help I think i will just wait and replace the pump due to the age and mileage. Any suggestions for a good replacement.

Racetronix sells a replacement pump that I highly recommend. Upgraded replacement pump and you can also opt for the wiring harness that pulls power directly from the alternator which is what i went for. Very well put together kit.
