    Loose steering wheel.

It moves maybe a half inch or so up and down. It isnt the column so im thinking the wheel nut backed off some. Easy way to fix this??

From what I read in the haynes manual it shows how to take the airbag and stuff off to get to the steering wheel nut. I just wasnt sure if its risky to do or not.

There are 3 or 4 bolts down in the column that loosen up. It has been happening to gm cars for years. You need to remove the wheel, airbag, and probably the turn signal and cruise harness to get to it I think. Once in there take out bolts one by one and put loctite on them and retighten. I think car craft or super chevy had a write up about it this year.

this sounds more like a suspension issue.

Have you got your alignment checked? If it's out of wack you will feel some of that more often.

However, It could really just be the roads you drive on. It seems as though our cars love to get pulled into ruts on the road. I know of a few sections around austin that I have to be certain I'm holding the wheel.

I'll second that. My Z28 felt like it hand a mind of it's own on the road until I had a full wheel computer alignment done. Mine was way out and it made a huge difference. Probably my best value for money upgrade so far

i wonder how much it would run me to get an alignment...a part of me just wants 2 fire sale this car right now....but another part of me wants to keep it...and continue on the progress of making it a track monster

I'm in the UK and my alignment (a proper computer one) cost about £60 so make that about $120 if costs are similar in the US. Well worth it IMHO.
