Long time before oil change, advice?

Ok, so I drive my T/A about 30 x a year?, and the deal is that I drove only about 2000-2500 miles, but it was in about a 1.5- 2 year range. I'd like to hear from some oil gurus on this as to whether it is something that desperately needs changed immediately or if I am ok. The engine is modified, so the piston ring clearance is not as tight as oem, so that is my concern... oil breakdown due to blow-by, etc. I know i'll get a lot of crap for this, but it just seemed ridiculous to change it after a year when i drove the car only about 1000 miles. Some advice/helpful comments would be great!

I would like to hear as well. I also hardly ever drive my car. I try to change my oil every 4k miles, but i hardly ever drive it to even reach 4k miles. So now, i will just change it once a year.

You should change the oil at least once a year.

Use a synthetic oil, the condensation that occurs from the vehicle sitting will stay on top of the oil, rather than diluting (sp) it, as in the case of conventional oil.

My vehicle 01 Z28 has 28K original miles (purchased 12/00), I use synthetic oil, and change it (and the oil filter) every 1 to 1 1/2 years. The oil removed is still very clean.

Just to be on the safe side you should change it once a year. It doesn't cost that much for the peace of mind it gets you.

Alright, but does anyone know if this would have done any kind of extra damage to the engine? Or is it simply not recommended?

Moisture can build up inside and mix with the oil, especially if it sits for the winter. I always change my fluid(s) before winter/after winter.

It's pretty much recommended thing, most fluids have a expiration time on them b/c they can begin to break down. Especially coolant.

As water condenses in the crankcase over time it dilutes the oil. Water diluted oil does not lubricate as well as straight oil. More wear in the engine will be the result.
