A little rough on cold startup
My car (2000 ss, a4, 75,000miles) is running a little rough when i first start it up when its completely cold. I got some squeeking which i assume is the belt tensioner which i need to replace. I also am getting a tad bit of knocking, once my car warms up even a little past 100 it goes away.
So my question is, Is there anything i can run though it that might help as far as oil type, or injector cleaner or anything? Im almost due for an oil change.

Your belt tensioner is probably fine. Put some gator back belts on. They made all my squeaking quiet. Any time it was humid or damp my car sounded like an old Caravan.

original plugs and wires? You're probably getting close to tune up time with those miles. That might help with your rough idle. The knock is piston slap and is normal if it goes away once the car warms up. I run 5w30 conventional oil (valvoline)in mine with ac-delco filters.

what causes piston slap exactly?
Yeah i assume they're stock plugs and wires. I will definitely change them. I also need to do the o2 sensors, how hard is that? i can do most everything on a car besides gears, transmission work and internal motor work.
You dont run fully synthetic?

some do it worse than others, my '99 z71 does it real bad at cold start up, and it will do it a little when idleing from time to time. the piston slap thing is something gm screwed up on in the design of the ls motors from the factory.

piston slap is caused by the short skirt design of the pistons. It allows the pistons to rock back and forth a little bit when the engines cold allowing them to slap the walls of the cylinder. Normal on LS1's.
If you can change plugs you can definitely swap O2 sensors. They just thread into the exhaust. You have 4 total. 2 pre-cat and 2 post cat. The 2 precat sensors are the ones responsible for fueling when in closed loop, the 2 post cat sensors basically verify that your cats are working.
