    lights dimming at WOT???

iv noticed a little bit while im driving at night that the lights seem to dim and brighten back up a little if i accellerate in 6th, also the battery gauge will drop down and back up, not much but just maybe from like 14.5 to 13. tonight though i was driving home just messing around and from a stop i eased out in 1st then once in second i took it up to about 5 grand under wot and noticed my lights dimmed dramaticly so i took my foot of the gas and threw the clutch in and my lights went bright again. the gauge was comin up from about 12.5 by the time i got to looking at it........ anybody know what the fuck is goin on with my power supply or is this a normal thing i have never noticed???

i'm having a similar problem...I saw on another thread that the tensioner may be the culprit, but I don't know how to test it for improper operation, I mean it seems ok to me
the other thing would be the alternator...

Your tensioner may be weak,I imagine there is a spec for how much belt tension should be there. But I've also seen where people claim there is a tendency for the serp belt to go wacky at higher rpms. There is an aftermarket belt tensioner that doesn't work with spring tension, but is set and tightened down and reduces the tendency to throw belts and other problems. But it definetly has the symptoms of classic alternator belt slipping.

My friend had to get a new tensioner and it fixed everything. Not to be mixed up with the light flash that happens every few times under normal driving

Check the tensioner, if you have more than 1/4" freplay on the belt then it's bad. Also, the setting on the tensionor should be on the II mark. There is a I, II, and III mark. The squealing is from the bearing in the tensionor pulley, just take off the bolt and grease the bearing.

Also check your belt for glazing cause it may be slipping at WOT as well.
