Lid doesn't seal right?
Anyone else have a problem with the air cleaner lid not sealing properly? This is the second time that I've had a mechanic find leaves, twigs & crap in the MAF screen! (Two different mechanics found this problem!) I replaced the stock lid with a SLP lid & a K&N filter - but the crap in the screen problem occurred with the stock lid/stock filter, stock lid/K&N, SLP lid/K&N!! Why won't the box/lid/filter seal properly? If there's crap in the screen, think of all the stuff that gets by..... What else do I need to replace?

You must trim/silicon/seal the filter and air box. Whatever it takes. Your engine will die from ingestion of silicon(dirt particles) and will play havoc on your bearings....

I use an SLP lid & paper filter & never find shit in the MAF screen.
Are you sure you're installing the lid correctly?
The front edge of the lid should fit INSIDE the front edge of the airbox.

I found on my stock lid that it was busted on the back where that rubber piece is leading to the sound baffle, but that also some moron before me had cut out the brace that supports the filter in the middle, allowing the lower box to pus forward, the filter to drop creating gap. Its probably the same idiot who descreened the maf.
