Question less gearing or 700r4 trans?

I have a 77 Camaro with a 460 hp engine with 373 gearing and b&m 350 trans that's less than two years old cost me $800.00, good for take offs on the street or track when I go, but the biggest of the time it's driven on the street or highway, I have found that on the highway at 80 miles per hour it hums like it"s in need of another gear.I can't stand the humming, I want to be able to hit the highway and travel sometime to show it off but at 80 it's no fun.I feel that a 700r4 would help but it's about $2000 dollars with every thing that will be needed to get it up and running, A higher gearing will cost me about $800.00,I know this because I had the gears done about two years ago also, I am at a stand still, which way do you guys feel will be my best route, do I bite the bullet and get the 700r4 and enjoy the highway, street and track or go with the higher gears like a 323 or a 342 and enjoy the street and the highway? remember the track is every now and than.

Install different gears in the rear, go with a taller tire, an overdrive transmission, or a Gear Vendors unit are your only options.

how many rpm's are you turning at 80? What about at 65-70 where the actual speed limit is? This is kind of a decision you have to make because I would never give up low end for highway speeds but that's just me.

    I am already running a p275-60-15 it's 28" tall that's about as tall as I believe I can go.

At 75 I am running about 3000 rpms and at 80 its about 3500 everything is good at 70&75 but at 80 the hum starts.I have just come back from driving the car and I run it up to 90 the humming seems to stay the same no worst. but just knowing that there are mustangs and chargers that have pulled up on me on the highway and I have to just act like I don't see them is hard for me to deal with.

If you are going to keep the car for a few years more then I would go with the 700R4 trans and a good 3200 stall convertor. The hum you refer to may just be tire noise or your exhaust vibrating at 3500 rpm. It is best to go with the OD trans and you will save money in gas and engine wear.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k
