LED install for the SES light...need help
So i pulled the cluster apart...soldered in an LED and resistor...but it didnt work
turning the key on produced nothing, but it would light for a split second when i was turning the key off.
im lost and i hate wiring and soldering and little things!
anyone have any ideas?

if you look at the wiring diagram it says the SES is connected to "solid state module" or something like that. I don't know what the voltage or amperage are from those circuits but I suspect it is not usual cluster voltage. You may have to settle for the incandescent bulb or do some testing to see what actual voltage/amps is there?

voltage problem, amperage problem, or you soldered the leads backwards being a diode current will only flow through it one way if it bakcwards the current wont flow

So I am sure you know there is a volt diffrence from orange to blue right orange/amber/red are 1.5 volts and blue/white are 3 volts. So was there a resistor on it when you took it off? If not why are you adding one if there was not im sure that circ runs at 1.5 volts to start with.
So lets try to fix this today.....I have a few questions that you need to answer so I can help.
1. Was there a resistor to start with?
2. Can you power up the circut and test it?
3. Can you take two AA bats and tape them together postive to neg, get two pieces and test the Led to make sure its not buned up?
4. Do you know which side is the power output on the borad your tieing into?

That's fine and dandy, BUT it's more the amperage you're trying to control. An incondesent lamp takes more amperage to illuminate than does a light emitting diode, that is why you need a resistor. Two AA bat's will light it up but does nothing in the way of testing amperage, since AA bats only produce current in milliamps.

i am going from LED to LED, but...the stock LED is 12vdc...the one im putting in is 3.4-3.8vdc
thus needing a resistor
