Did you clean that thing out with SEAFOAM like I told you to in one of your other posts?
If you have excessive build up it will raise compression enough to cause detonation. Or a nice vacuum leak will lean you out and cause it too.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Yes we use it to mix with av gas cause it is such a dry blend. But as the SeaFoam use NO!

ChocoTaco369, this is a great article. Great write up. I am experiencing the same pinging and I did not know what to do and you have given me a good starting point to solve the problem. I have a custom tune predator and I was thinking I would have to get a new program, but you and the guys on this post have given me much needed info. You are a true fellow car guy. Thanks.

I found out what the pinging was guys!!!! I had new plugs (ngk tr55) put on about 500 miles ago. I took my car to a different shop and the pinging actually got so bad it was misfiring on 3 cylinders. They found that the pluggs put in by the previous shop(who specializes in f bodies/vettes) were gapped way too large on the 3 misfiring cylinders!! Put in new plugs gapped correctly and bingo-no more ping!!!

Those plugs come gapped to .059 which shouldn't be a problem. Did they widen em?

I heard people getting them and a few were not pre gapped-thats why you should check every plug before install. They are SUPPOSED to be pre gapped but apparently 3 of the 8 were not.

I think the Irridium plugs are good myself. I personally went with NGK tr 55 plugs.
The pinging I had was when I was in over drive and gave it medium/hard throttle. Thats gone now that the plugs are gapped correctly.
