    Knock Sensors

So after cleaning my engine(which is almost everyone's start to the problem) I messed up my front KS. I started throwing P0327(GREAT), so I got a project ahead of me! Here is my list of stuff I think I need if anything else is required or recommended please let me know.

    Intake gaskets
    2 new KS
    2 new KS pigtails
    RTV(building a dam)
    inch lbs torque wrench

    There's some good reading here.

    http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...t=knock+sensor

I might also suggest the mod being discussed in that thread since your already there.

    Yup, the LS6 valley.

I haven't done this myself yet, I just know it's the thread I'd use b/c visual aids are the next best thing to having someone with you.

We all can relate to that! I should be hooking up my shift/launch light, but I'm sanding/painting walls and doors in the house.

It's another reason I like having a laptop, it's been my assistant on several auto projects.

all you have to do is make a circle about an 1/8" thick around the KS with high temp rtv and your good.

Just make sure you have your KS wire harness away from the edge of the vct or near the heads or you will get something like this:

I used high temp tape to secure the wires down the middle to ensure I wouldn't pinch them again.

Also be damn careful with the OPSU

I did this project last couple of weeks and it fixed my idle. I replaced the knock sensors as well. Be careful when you remove the wire harness the plastic tabs could break. If you have the chance buy the sensors and a new wire harness. Changing the VC is not too hard if you have a dremmel tool to cut the piece inside the valley. I needed the coolant bypass kit as well.

If you can remove the OPSU before you take the intake its better. Is kinda of hard to reach back there but if you can buy the special socket for it and remove it.

yep, that is what kills them every time. Do you pressure wash your engine bay?

If so stop, I use a hose on low pressure.

Also OP, I have a LS1 Intake if yours goes very bad. PM me if interested.

no i use a hose but i think i got alittle water happy but it will never do that again after my rtv job and if the ls1 intake goes bad it would kill me to put a stock intake back on unless its an awesome price but if i ever pull it off again an ls6 or better is going on!!! the car seems to run fine tho so the cracks didnt go through so i think ill be fine for a while!

I didn't knew the VC has a pool option for the KS. lol. Mine looked exactly like yours minus the water. It was all corroded. I forgot the RTV. Oh well next time I pull the intake or the KS goes bad.

just build that dam around the knock sensor hole......no need to glue the cap to the VC with silicone
