Kicked off the track for running too fast. Need cage.
as the title states, We ran too fast on out local 1/8 mile track this past weekend so we were forced to stop due to not having a helmet. The guys in the tower basically told us if we get any faster( and we are) i'd have to have a cage. So my question is whats the best way to go about a cage. Mine is a hard top car. I been looking at the Jegs 6 point cage, its about 250 shipped. thanks for any advice.

i ran a 7.76@93mph with a 1.7 60ft on street tires peddling off the line. Our track is 1/8th mile and its got a uphill rake to it. We didnt have any idea we would run that fast. The track guys wouldnt let us even attempt another run. I still have to do more tuning to the car with the trans and adjust the timing. I have slicks as well to put on and depending how well we do once we get it dialed in there is weather im going to put a plate system to it.

I love my Wolfe 6-point. I got the jig-notched option when I ordered mine...do it, you won't regret it. Basically, it comes cut with the reliefs for the other bar that it will be welded to. That way when it goes to be put together, you only have to do welding, instead of cutting and welding. My buddy and I installed the cage in about two hours (interior was already out of the car).

You also have options for the rear bars and the side bars that can be ordered at no additional cost. The rear bars can either go the rear hatch deck and weld above the fuel tank, or you can have them go through the rear hatch speaker holes. The side bars can either be bent dowards to allow an easier access or straight style. Trust me, you want the slanted style. The rear bars are at your discretion, but I prefer to have my speakers functional.

1. Remove entire interior (center console can stay)
2. Install seats so you can position the bars around them
3. Weld in flat plates
4. Tack-weld bars where you want them and make sure the doors close...break welds and re-tack where repositioning is needed
5. Weld bars once you're sure they are where you want them
When you're done, just reinstall the carpet and cut out the holes where the bars are.
Here are some pics of my adventure.

i fuggin hate that rule at the track. went out there on motor and went 11.7's with nothing said then sprayed it and was told that i was done for the night even when i said i wouldnt spray. its kinda funny watching them freak out in the pits about my car being TOO fast and making me park it but safety first.
the rules here at my track are 13.99 or faster requires a helmet as well as t-tops and verts have to wear them no matter what
11.5 or faster is a 6 point cage i believe and then they start getting into the big cages as you go faster then that. idk for sure havent been that fast yet

The funniest thing to me is you go to a track and you see these cars that are gutted to the point of a shell with monster slicks on the back that run low 8's and 7's. Then you show up driving in off the street and line up with these trailer drag cars and you leave them sitting. Too me thats more impressive then a straight up drag car. Street cars that can outrun those on the track.

POR15...brushed it on before the carpet went in.
Never heard of him/that.
I honestly would like to see someone fabricate and install a roll cage for less than $400...granted my friend and I did the welding ourselves, but still. I was quoted over $800 from three different shops to fabricate and weld a cage into my car.
