You know how on automatics it has the 1,2,3,D,N,R gears...Is it safe to use the 1,2,3,D gears as if it were a manual? Like shifting them as it goes faster?

The only dumb question is the one never asked. It is not a good idea to manually shift a 4L60E transmission. Besides making you slower (you can't shift as fast as a computer) it's a lot harder on the tranny.

Now if you want to just do an occasional 1-2-3 from a dig just for fun then it's probably ok. But constant manual shifting and especially downshifting will kill the transmission.

Just put it in drive and let the computer do it's job. If you really want to shift gears then you either need to get a M6 or a TH350/400 with a manual valve body.

you can, but i wouldn't. If your tying to make it accelerate faster it wont. put in drive and floor it, its an electronically controlled tranny so it controlled by the computer.
