I have considered a lightweight battery, especially as our car regularly makes track outings. When the Interstate died a few months ago, I went with an AC Delco replacement. Curious as to how the Braille holds up. Any issues with fitment?

Anybody want to share the 411 on why this particular battery is so much lighter?

I would assume less cold cranking amps.

To the OP, I would buy a good tender for it, so if theres a chance you dont use it for month, itll be in good shape.

I figured, but didn't realize that much weight would be saved just from that. That's a pretty big weight reduction from just a battery.

Could be a glass mat battery rather than standard acid and plate... not sure.

Yea, pretty sure cca's have alot to do with size. Similar to amp hours determining sizes as well. Then like Jeff mentioned, it can come down to what material is used, even the density of the anode/cathode could lower weight.

I migt have to thumb through their site, I think I'll be needing a new battery next summer.

Hmmmm... I really need to get my T/A on a diet. Wouldn't be a bad place to start. Let us know how you like it.

I used to hit the auto stores with scale in hand and weigh batteries. It's amazing the difference you find with just name brands searching through same group sizes.
That was before pure stock morphed into f.a.s.t. racing. Now those guys get creative and run tiny 12 volt batteries inside a factory looking full size gutted case (to keep stock appearance). Or even put an empty case up front (with dummy cables and all) and hide the tiny battery inside the factory gas tank for more rear weight bias. It's crazy what they are doing now.
