ive got a small problem
k, i have a 2000 6 speed ws6, i got on it through first, second and third....obv. never redlining it. right after that, the "service engine soon" light came on. I plan on taking it to auto zone or o'rielys but does any one know why that may have happened? i just got the car, it is bone stock. thanks a lot. (could it possibly be an O2 sensor?)

The only sure way to tell is to pull the code.
Good luck, let us know what you find.

If the check engine light ever comes on just take it to Auto Zone. I dont know about all auto zones's but around illinois a check on the light is free so why not! We dont have o'rielys so dont know about them.

alright, so i went to autozone, the computer gave him the code P1416, and it said emission controls. the guy said i would have to go to the dealership to figure it out because it didnt tell us anything specific. does anyone know what that code means? thanks!

sounds like the air check valve, passenger side. It's part of your AIR system...make sure it isn't stuck. Their like 25 bucks, i'd replace both sides if i were you. The ACV is inbetween the end of the metal tube coming from your exhaust manifolds and the rubber hose above the intake manifold. Looks like a black plastic piece...kinda
It's a very easy install so just do it yourself if you have basic hand tools
