    Intake, exhaust, and programer

i have a 2011 avalanche and i was told today that if i put on an cold air intake system that it will actually drink more gas instead of helping it and the exhaust system will end up doing the same thing and that i need to put a programer in my avalanche instead of doing that the programers were hypertech and a superchip.... should i still consider the intake and exhaust system which is magnaflow and flowmasters or should i go the other road and just put in the programer... i'm looking for better gas milage cause of as much as i drive but i also am looking for a good sounding truck.

I don't see how adding an exhaust and intake could hurt your fuel economy, unless they are of poor design or bad quality. I'd stay away from the handheld tuner for the time being and maybe see about a dyno tune.

All depends on haw far down you push your right foot. That's the best way to conserve gas.

the problem is when most people do those mods they get a little heavier with their foot. Theoretically your gas mileage should go up when you help the engine breath better because it doesn't have to work as hard to push the truck. My personal experience has been that I don't really see a whole lot of difference mileage wise with exhaust and intake mods.
