Swap that o2 sensor to the other side, see if the codes follows it. If it does, then the sensor is shot.

i would go with Hi-pro and swap that o2 sensor. You can't delete your front o2's without doing a lot of other crap and it costs a lot more then buying a new front o2 sensor. That guy tuning the car will delete the rear o2's no problem and he also needs to delete your egr valve out of your pcm since it is removed

No, P0154 is a front (pre cat) o2 sensor. Used for fueling calculations and cannot be deleted unless running open loop tune. Which in your case, you do not want to do.

Swap that sensor, either for a new one or to the other side and we'll go from there.

makes me wonder if your exhaust pipe may be cracked and causing the O2 sensor to go crazy. i had that happen to mine on the passenger side at the flange connection to the manifold.

Wait...are you sure you removed your EGR on your 2002 Z28?? I think you meant you removed your Secondary A.I.R. system
    2002 doesn't have EGR.

    Question

turns out it was its the fuel pump messing everything up and i just purchased a granatelli fuel pump for 130 and now the mechanic says he cant install it because it will prob last about a month or so!

what do you all think can it be done or will something get damaged, this mechanic used to work for a Buick Dealership before they closed!

i just searched thru some threads and read some people going with racetronix other than a granatelli fuel pump. is the racetronix a direct replacement or will there be some modifying to it as well as the granatelli? i need to now that way i can ship back the granatelli pump!

I never heard anything bd about Granetelli but my fuel pump gave up soon as I started modding my car. I got a Walbro for $125 or so. I know for 99 and up they have one with a oem plug on it and just drops right in for like $130. Mine was just popping a little at about 5k rpm because after that it couldn't keep up. I took it to have it tuned and the car wouldn't make any power sinve the pump couldn't keep up. Once the pump was swapped and the car could be tuned properly it was like having a newer faster car and ran smoother.

Methinks Racetronix is a direct replacement.

first off...how do you know the fuel pump is the problem? What was your fuel pressure? Secondly, as I was reading this thread I was thinking you're O2's got fouled the first time when the car was running so rich. Are you still throwing the 154 code? Do like someone else suggested and swap that to the passenger side and drive on it until you throw the code again and see if it followed the O2.
Lastly, make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks prior to the O2's such as the air pipe block offs leaking or something.

fuel pressure was 60 when cold n dropped to about 20 (what i was told), definitely will do that soon and i was also wondering if anybody knows what the new pump will do other than suck more fuel, because i already had this HiPer Shop assemble the granatelli pump but the mechanic where my car is at still says it cant be done because the housing compresses and the HiPer Shop installed the tube that came w/ the GPump and bends it, he then says that with the bend it will stop sucking fuel. So thats what i would love to know cuz its gettin a lil frustratin.

    1) Is the new GPump gonna work if i tell him to go ahead and install it
    or
    2) Was it assembled the wrong way
    or
    3) If installed the way it is will it still compress or what will happen?

Thanx for the feedback but runnin out of ideas, might scrapp GPump and go for Jap/Tai replacement!!!

Makes me wonder if all he did was swap in a new O2 sensor.I don't mean any offense if you know the mechanic personally but, since you never mentioned if he said anything about the O2 code you were throwing (unless I missed it)...

I found it strange that a mechanic wouldn't have found that code and discussed that with you.Or tried testing the O2 sensor.

Sounds like he wanted you to drop in more cash when all you MIGHT have needed was a new O2 sensor. I say this also because in my experience the symptoms you described are classic bad O2 symptoms even the running rich odor in the car.

Keep us posted on how it goes and has your front O2 sensor code gone away??
