    Is this the Ignition Switch?

got in my 97 3.8 firebird the other day and turned the key to start and nothing happens, no instruments on the dash would work and no start. I played around with the key a bit and found if i moved the key forward a few times rapidly it would start but died as soon as i let the key roll back in the ignition, I managed to drive it home by holding the key forward slightly in the ignition just enough so it wouldnt engage the starter, if i let tension off the key, the car would die.

From what I am reading this appears to be a bad ignition switch, can anyone confirm this and how much of a bitch is it to replace?

If you are not very good with mechanics and do not have access to a steering wheel puller I would have a shop do the work. I think it is not too hard to do but you will need special tools.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
