i got exhaust questions
my check engine light just came on. the code says its either the o2 sensor or the catalytic converter (bank 2). heres my question; if i take out the cat and run straight pipes, eliminating the o2 sensor(s), will the check engine light come back on after it is cleared? anybody know for sure? thanks.

so the connector for the o2 sensor is still there, just with an o2 sim plugged into it?

Yes, the 02 sims tell the PCM nothing's wrong. I'd delete both cats not just one, you can get 02 sims or just have the codes turned off. Maybe the P0430 is because the cat is clogged????

P0430 is passenger side (Bank 2, Sensor 2), P0420 is drivers side (Bank 1, Sensor 2).

you also have bank 1 or 2 with sensor 1 for the pre-cat sensor

i have a 98 ss with gutted cats and a single to dual system w/ no muffler and was thinking of adding the borla muffler instead of the straight through exhaust. my question is if i will gain or lose a good amount of power? also i dont have o2 simms but the car does run pretty strong, i was told o2 simms will improve the performance and keep my ses light off? any info?

go with a pair of dynomax bullet mufflers. wont quite you down much at all and will still offer a little back pressure and refine the exhaust a little
