    Question how much oil?

    Rebuilding my first ls1,how much oil do I need? 5 or 6 qts?

    stock is 5.5 but I think you can get a bigger filter and some people use aftermarket coolers that would also require more just be sure to check it

    stock everythng with AC Delco filter. Thanks. Any idea on the tranny fluid, and coolant capacity?

    M6 tranny is 4 quarts.

    I never went with a set amount of coolant. Always filled, warmed, checked, filled

    no offense but you are attempting to rebuild and engine and your not sure about the oil capacity?? Maybe you should be getting someone to rebuild that engine for you.

    I put six quarts in and it reads perfect. Last time when i put 5.5 in it showed that it was a little low.

    I dont have the book for the car. Knowing its a 350 I was assumng 5-6 qts, and I know how to read a dipstick. And I do have someone building it with me.

    like stated above it calls for 5.5 in the manual, i run the oil filter for a trailblazer to give extra capacity and put 6 in it.
