if my car is using dino oil right now should i do a blend for a coulple of oil canges? or should i just go with mobil 1 right now?

It says in the manual it's ok to run 10W-30 as long as the temperature stays above 0* F. Otherwise they want 5W-30.Take your pick and take into account mileage and temperature useage for your vehicle. Overfilling the crankcase can be a bad idea because the crank can whip air into the oil. The LS1 has a tendency to hold oil in the roller lifter 'buckets'. For this reason allow plenty of drain down time (on level ground),then jack the car up and drain the pan. On my car it appears to hold a half a quart in the roller lifters for a good 15-30 minutes after shut down. Just my observation. See the floor jack thread for some ideas on how to do this oil change. I'd just go straight to the synthetic-today's oils don't have the problems that the first synthetics did 30+ years ago .

because it doesnt burn the extra and it leaves less room for error

Same as your liters of displacement...5.7. That makes it easy to remember.

5.5 is good, so is 6. but if you overfill too much, then you take the risk of blowing the seals.

I was trying to get people to give their reasoning instead of just listing what they do. Thanks for all the answers. I'm guessing nobody has suffered any problems because of their choices?
