How hard is it to replace a mirror?
So, my wife was running late for class and the car wouldn't start. It was parked in a position where it couldn't be jump started so I had to push it back. Well I didn't even think about the open passenger door until I had pushed it into my Z28's passenger side mirror and heard fiberglass cracking and the mirror hit the ground.
The impact knocked the mirror glass out of the assembly but did not break it. So I picked up the glass and clipped it back into the housing. Apparently it stripped out a retaining screw and something else internally and popped out. It went back in easily but now the entire inner assembly spins freely inside the housing.
So how hard is it to replace the mirror assembly or the internals so my mirror functions again?

Shouldn't be that hard. I've kinda looked at mine. remove the cover form the inside of the door where the mirror is and it should be self explanitory from there.

If it is a remote mirror, you will have to remove the door panel to release the electrical connector then do what Orcus79 said.
