how do i reach 500 hp?
well anyways, i really want to do a ls1 swap, but i want to reach around 450 to 500 HP, NA, no nitrous, no superchargers, no turbos.........anyways, what are good ways to help me reach my goal of 500 HP with like
lets say..... $1000 to add on to the motor?

heads/cam and bolt ons will get you in that range as long as you are talking crank hp. probably 400-430 rwhp. $1000 barely covers the exhaust though so start saving

I dont think there's no way to hit 500hp with $1,000. The Trick flow packages can get you to around 515 hp at the crank. The only problem is that it costs about 3k. I would start with headers and cam which is around the $1000 budget.

450-500 fly or wheel? Either way there's no way on a stock cube LS1 with only 1K invested. The cam (with required upgrades) and tune alone would be over 1K, and that is not including the exhaust/fuel needed to support it. 450 Fly can be attained with a Magic stick cam kit with stock heads, but would still require a tune and exhaust. 500 fly would definately need heads on top of the cam with stock cubed LS1. Stroker kits or LS2's or 3's could net more but also require more cash. Much more than 1K. What do you plan to do with it all around street car, corner carver, strip car?

You missed 2 key words in his thread No Nitrous. So neways like I said earlier theres no way to make 500 hp on a stock displacement LS1 for $1000.

You can convert an LS1 to an LS6 by changing the heads (243 castings), cam, springs, and add 1.85 rockers. Hand port and polished the heads. You can get used parts for around $500 or $600 if you look around. Add LS6 intake, headers, under-drive pulley balancer, smooth belows, high-flow MAF sensor, air lid, throttle body bypass, port and polish the throttle body, and tune. You can get well over 400 Hp, closer to 450 cheap if you do the research, labor, and buy good condition used parts. That kind of Hp will eat up a lot of tires and if you add traction, street slicks, frame stiffeners, strut tower, and torque arm to harness that power you will have to spend $ replacing rear ends unless you spend more $ than you did gaining Hp for like a Moser rear end.

500+ HP on LS1 without Nitrous
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ech/index.html
There is a link of what someone else did to get over 500HP. It involves intake, cam, heads, and a few other things I am sure, like intake, exhaust, injectors, programming. Would probably cost well over $1,000. I guess that is why Nitrous is so popular.

500 hp for a 100 bucks NO WAY you cant do it HP cost money i just spent 1700.00 and i am not even close to 500 HP so all i can say is good luck.
1.85 roller rockers 370.00, cold air kit 240.00, programmer 350.00, SLP 25% under drive H/Balancer 220.00 and OBX Ful/L headers with no cats 500.00. yeah that's right 500.00 bucks
and that's 1700 right there and if i bought headers from anyone else it would have cost me 1200.00 a loan at least. so that's 1700 if i would have bought headers from anyone else it would be at least 700 more.
O and before someone tells you to buy pacesetter headers they are nowhere close to to the OBX's. Well I hope this helped out.Last edited by Cutlass; 01-08-2011 at 09:05 AM. Reason: Removed non sponsor direct link
