    how do i get my firebird to spin both tires?

    my 1997 pontiac firebird v6 will only spin 1 tire when i burn out, and i was wondering if i put some 3.73 gears into it would they both spin instead of the right one? and if any 3.73 gear will fit a v6 im not sure if you have to have a special gear or not for your v6 or v8, thanks.

    You need a limited-slip differential. Unfortunately, you're stuck with one-wheel-drive. Changing your gears will not help that.

    If you change your gears replace the unit it bolts to with a posi, Eaton would be killer.

    +1 on the v8 rear, posi, and if from m6 car, has 3.42:1 gears.

    As already stated you need to get rid of your open carrier and get on Ebay and buy a gear set with a posi type carrier or swap the rear end out with one from the junkyard from a V8 car. It's easy to test before you buy. . . . . . . Just spin one axle and look to see if the other is spinning the same way or the opposite.

    For a V-6 car I couldn't see spending the cash it would take to buy a posi and gears and pay for install.

    I believe the limited slip in the v8 cars will spin opposite also......
    but you could spin the yoke..... and if it spins both axles the same direction... as opposed to one...

    No limited slip will also turn both in same direction. You could hold one side with something you could put some leverage on and hold it. But no the only kind that will spin in opposite directions are open,single track,one leggers.

    I wasn't sure... (believe) but i know if i jack one side up, w/o the ebrake, it will roll and the tire in the air spins opposite....

    Mine is def a posi......
