how do I change a stud bolt?

hey guys I recentley noticed that I had a wheel stud without a lug nut. it was covered with the black cap. I guess they broke it when I took her in for a tire rotation last year(last time i go there!!!) anyway I have no Idea how to replace it. I already have the new bolt and nut. Do I need to remove any brake component?

Should be able to to remove caliper and bracket and rotor and smack it out. Might have to remove backing plate but I dont know... Should be a 30 minute job.

hose it down with pb blaster prior to driving it out of there. A little heat around it wouldn't hurt either.

    Remove tire.
    Remove caliper/rotor.
Hit what is left of the stud with hammer.

Pull new stud through (put a little oil on it to help tug it through) using washers and old lugnut.

    No.

At least as long as you don't step on the brake pedal while it is off the rotor.
