how can i tell if my MAF is bad?

is there anything I should be able to see that would indicate if my MAF sensor has gone bad?

Your car will feel like it is running at 50% power. Could try disconnecting it and seeing how it runs. No MAF signal will cut timing by about 50%.

    What symptoms do you have?

i dont really have any symptoms. i can hear my motor "pop" at WOT from time to time. my tuner says it's not getting enough fuel... it's running lean. he said it could be from a bad MAF, bad injector(s) or a bent valve. I just drove the car and it felt mighty powerful. so should i rule it out?

i'm actually starting to trust my tuner less and less because i have a SES light on now after i had him delete everything friday and i'm pretty sure he forgot to adjust my speedo

A rattle in the motor at WOT?
Not sure what a pop would be.

Clean the MAF. Q-Tips and rubbing alcohol. BE GENTLE!

it almost sounds like a backfire but a lot quieter. i guess it's hard to explain. i just did WOT thru the top of fourth gear, it felt great and no popping. but it happened yesterday on the ride home. my tuner cleaned the maf with maf cleaner when i was at his shop but i'm sure it wouldn't hurt as long as i'm careful. thanks for all the good advice.

Is the SES MAF related? Bring it somewhere else and have the code(s) read. You can use a calculator like www.f-body.org/gears/ to check your speedo.
